At Leaderboard, we believe privacy matters. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our service. We're committed to being transparent about what data we collect and how we use it.
Data We Collect
Account Information: When you sign up, we collect your email address and full name (optional).
Strava Activity Data: When you connect your Strava account, we collect your activity data including distance, elevation gain, moving time, pace, activity type, and activity dates. This data is only collected from activities you explicitly authorize.
Profile Data: Your avatar and profile information from Strava (if you choose to display them).
Usage Information: We may collect information about how you use Leaderboard, such as which leaderboards you view and which challenges you participate in.
How We Use Your Data
We use your data to:
- Calculate and display your rankings on leaderboards
- Power leaderboard challenges and competitions
- Sync your latest Strava activities automatically
- Send you important notifications about your account or leaderboards
- Improve and optimize our service
Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored securely in encrypted databases. We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information from unauthorized access. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your Control
Disconnect Strava: You can disconnect your Strava account at any time in your profile settings. This stops new activities from syncing, but your historical data remains in Leaderboard (you can request deletion separately).
Delete Your Account: You can request complete account deletion at any time. This will remove all your personal data from our system.
Data Requests: You can request a copy of your data or ask questions about what we store.
We Don't Sell Your Data
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. Your data is used solely to provide the Leaderboard service. Leaderboard creators and members can see your activities on shared leaderboards (that's the point!), but your data is never shared outside the context of the leaderboards you've joined.
Third-Party Services
Strava: Your Strava data is shared directly with Strava's service when you authorize the connection. Please review Strava's privacy policy for how they handle your data.
Supabase: We use Supabase for authentication and database services. They follow strict data protection standards.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy occasionally. We'll notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of Leaderboard after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
